The heart of the abbey

Immerse yourself in the philosophy and rich history of the abbey and the Norbertine order

The highlights

  • You walk through the rooms of the abbots, passing the refectory, the library and the abbot’s quarters
  • After 200 years, twenty authentic stained-glass windows from the 17th century can once again be seen in the cloister aisle for which they were originally made. These virtuoso stained-glass windows are recognised and protected as Flemish masterpieces
  • The library boasts a unique 17th century ceiling in high relief, depicting scenes from the life of the founder of the order, Norbertus
  • In the refectory you encounter beautifully made 3D decoration on the ceiling
